TEGUCIGALPA – The U.S. Embassy invites the public to attend the announcement of the first place winner of the “Crea tu Sueño Hondureño” contest this Saturday, November 22 at 10:00 a.m. at MegaconHN at the Chiminike Museum. The winner will be chosen from the five finalists who are being recognized for their excellent contest entries.
To compete, participants had to create an original artwork featuring a comic hero or heroine who promotes themes of youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and building a brighter future in Honduras. The contest ran from October 3 to November 5, 2014.
Ambassador James Nealon will present the grand prize winner of “Crea Tu Sueño Hondureño” with a personal video gaming system. “The young artists who created original characters for the contest should be recognized for their talent. But they also convey an important message: it takes every individual’s effort to create conditions where all Hondurans are working together to contribute to their communities, and build their own ‘Honduran dream,'” said the Ambassador.
On Sunday, November 23 at 10:00 a.m., the Embassy will present its interactive English language learning game, “Trace Effects.” “Trace Effects” allows the user to practice the language on a computer, online, or on a mobile device. The Embassy will be distributing free copies of “Trace Effects” during Megacon.
The Embassy is also sponsoring two professional graphic artists, Thomas Lyle and Rashad Doucet from the Savannah College Art and Design, to participate as guest speakers at Megacon where they will lead an interactive discussion on pursuing a career in visual arts.
