Note: Applying for a U.S. passport while outside the United States is a different process than applying for a U.S. passport while inside the United States. Although the application forms, supporting documentation, fees, and finished products are the same everywhere, each U.S. Embassy, Consulate, or Consular Agency has different procedures for submitting and processing your final documents.
The Consular Section in Tegucigalpa and Consular Agency in San Pedro Sula process U.S. passport applications for U.S. citizens abroad. Currently, processing time for applications in Tegucigalpa vary from 10 to 13 working days and from 3 to 5 weeks in San Pedro Sula. All applicants must appear in person for passport applications. You may pick up the passport yourself, or have it delivered to you via UPS at an additional cost.
Forms must be printed on separate sheets of paper; do not print the form on front and back of the same sheet. Complete the mailing address field with a Honduran address, either your home address or the address where you are staying. All forms must be completed (but not signed) before your appointment.
