Limited routine services for passports, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, and notarials are available at the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and U.S. Consular Agency in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. If there are no appointments available when you first check the online booking system, please keep checking. New appointments are regularly added, including appointments made available from daily cancellations. These appointments can only be booked through the online calendar, not by email or telephone.

The U.S. Embassy is scheduling a limited number of appointments for U.S. passports, Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), and notary services. The Embassy continues to provide expedited consular services, also by appointment, including the replacement of lost/stolen passports for U.S. citizen visitors, and passport issuance for U.S. citizens with imminent travel for emergency purposes, such as medical emergencies.

Emergency passports for citizens with immediate, emergency travel plans to the U.S. remain available.  Emergency travel includes:

  1. Illness of the traveler and need for medical treatment in the U.S.
  2. Grave illness or death of an immediate family member in the U.S.
  3. For U.S. citizen tourists in Honduras – imminent scheduled return travel to the U.S. after a passport has been lost or stolen. (Note: this option does not apply to U.S. citizens residing in Honduras)
  4. If your travel falls under one of these categories, please contact us at to schedule your emergency appointment.
  5. Please note that planned vacation travel does not qualify as an emergency, even if your ticket has already been purchased.

If you are not eligible for an emergency passport, you may still be able to renew your passport by mail. More information available here.

Returning to the United States on an Expired U.S. Passport
If you are overseas and your passport expired on or after January 1, 2020, you may be able to use your expired passport to return directly to the United States until December 31, 2021.  See this page for more information.
