The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens that the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team will play in a World Cup Qualifying match at Estadio Olímpico in San Pedro Sula at 3:36 p.m. local time on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. According to local police estimates, the match is expected to draw a large crowd. While there are no specific reports suggesting violence could occur, events drawing large crowds can become unruly. You should exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, including gatherings associated with the soccer match. Further, San Pedro Sula has a notably high crime and violence rate. Maintain a high level of vigilance, take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security, and follow instructions of local authorities.
