The U.S Embassy in Tegucigalpa, Honduras has information that there is a planned March of Torches that may move from Colonia Kennedy to the Casa Presidencial, Friday 24 July beginning at 5 pm. This March will likely disrupt traffic so please use caution while driving in the vicinity of the above areas.
Previous marches have been large and peaceful, but as always, U.S. Citizens are reminded that the tone of any large public gathering can change quickly, and will also most likely cause significant traffic delays.
We strongly recommend that U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in Honduras enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates, and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy or nearest U.S. consulate to contact you in an emergency. If you don’t have Internet access, enroll directly with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
Regularly monitor the State Department’s website at Department of State Website, where you can find current Travel Warnings, (including the Travel Warning for Honduras), Travel Alerts, and the Worldwide Caution. Read the Country Specific Information for Honduras at Country Specific Information. For additional information, refer to “A Safe Trip Abroad” on the State Department’s website.
