Happy graduation day, Discovery School Seniors!
I am Laura Dogu, the U.S. Ambassador to Honduras.
Thank you for the opportunity to join your celebration.
Congratulations on achieving this milestone!
Despite the challenges caused by the ongoing pandemic, you pushed through.
Your hard work has paid off, and your future is bright.
You have studied hard and dedicated extensive time and effort to your passions.
Your many accomplishments include victories in the ABSH Basketball tournament and All Dance America Competition.
A few of you earned accolades from Yale’s Model UN program.
You’ve additionally donated your time, talent, and resources to noble causes.
Through your volunteer efforts with organizations like Operation Smile, Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos, and Cape Care Brigades, you’ve supported vulnerable youth and helped create access to essential healthcare.
Take pride in knowing that your actions help contribute to a brighter future for all Hondurans.
Now that you’ve reached graduation, I am sure you’re all eagerly looking forward to what comes next.
I was excited to hear that you’ve been accepted to great universities, such as Hofstra University, St. Edward’s University, and Louisiana State University, among others. Many of you have chosen to study in the United States!
Wherever in the world your studies take you, this next chapter will undoubtably be an opportunity for immeasurable growth.
And you’ll be able to share your talents with new communities in Honduras and around the world.
As you move on, remember all you have learned from your time at the Discovery School.
Express gratitude to the teachers, staff, and administrators who have guided you over the years.
And give thanks to your families and friends who supported you along the way.
It is this support from your community, along with your immense talents and drive, that will propel your future success.
On behalf of all of us at the U.S. Embassy, congratulations to the Discovery School Class of 2022!
