TEGUCIGALPA – After considering information from a wide variety of sources and information, Acting Secretary for Homeland Security Elaine Duke has determined additional time is necessary to obtain and assess supplemental information regarding country conditions of Honduras, and will not make a new determination on TPS for Honduras at this time, thereby automatically extending the current designation for six months.
Temporary Protected Status was not intended to provide a long-term solution or permanent legal status for foreign nationals in the United States.
The Government of the United States is committed to supporting Honduran efforts to increase economic prosperity, strengthen institutions and reduce violence so that every Honduran envisions their future here, in Honduras.
