Message to U.S. Citizens: Passport Appointments during Summer Travel Season

The American Citizen Services (ACS) unit of the U.S. Embassy is releasing this message to inform all U.S. citizens traveling or residing in Honduras of the potential increase in wait times for U.S. Passport and Consular Report of Birth Abroad appointments. Due to increased demand for services during the summer travel season, the current wait time for a U.S. Passport appointment could increase to one month during the months of June and July 2015. The ACS unit strongly encourages all U.S. citizens with plans to travel this summer to schedule their appointments with as much anticipation as possible.

To ensure that customers are accommodated in an efficient and courteous manner, appointments are required for the following services:

U.S. citizens may review additional requirements and schedule an appointment on the U.S. Embassy’s website. Please visit our U.S. Passport information page to see specific requirements for each type of passport service.

The ACS unit is happy to answer all inquiries at +504 2238-5114, ext. 4400, or at usahonduras@state.gov.

We strongly recommend that U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in Honduras enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at Smart Traveler Enrollment Program.  STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates, and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy or nearest U.S. consulate to contact you in an emergency.  If you don’t have Internet access, enroll directly with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

Regularly monitor the State Department’s website at Department of State Website, where you can find current Travel Warnings, (including the Travel Warning for Honduras), Travel Alerts, and the Worldwide Caution.  Read the Country Specific Information for Honduras at Country Specific Information.  For additional information, refer to “A Safe Trip Abroad” on the State Department’s website.
