Event: The government of Honduras has expanded the state of exception that went in to effect December 6, 2022. The State of Exception will be in effect for a further 45 days, from January 6, 2023, and will include an additional 73 municipalities throughout the country. During this time, there may be restrictions on freedom of movement and other rights in the named neighborhoods. Monitor local media for updates and information on restrictions in specific neighborhoods.
U.S. citizens are reminded to carry identification with them at all times, comply with all local laws, and follow police instructions. U.S. citizens who are arrested overseas should request to speak with the nearest Embassy or Consulate as soon as possible.
