Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens: Demonstrations in Honduras

A demonstration is expected to take place on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. near the Soto Cano Air Base, Comayagua, Honduras. The demonstrations are related to the November 2017 presidential elections. Recent demonstrations have included destruction of private and public property and have encountered a strong police presence including the use of tear gas and water cannons.

Demonstrations, both announced and unannounced are expected to continue throughout January 2018. U.S. Citizens are encouraged to avoid the areas of all demonstrations, and to monitor local media to be aware of unplanned demonstrations.
