Demonstration Alert: Protests on June 6, 2022

Location: Honduras, Tegucigalpa

Event: Protests are currently taking place at the Tegucigalpa exit to Olancho, next to Mall Premier and the South exit of Highway CA-5 by community members demanding the repair of the road.  Traffic is blocked in those areas.  Honduran police are expected to deploy those locations.  These protests may spread or occur in other areas so U.S. citizens are encouraged to monitor local media and events to maintain awareness.  U.S. citizens in Honduras are reminded to maintain awareness of their surroundings as the situation may change quickly.  Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  U.S. citizens should avoid demonstrations and crowds as well as take proper precautions against the spread of COVID-19.
