Demonstration Alert: Protests on June 2, 2022

Location: Honduras, San Pedro Sula

Event: Protests are currently taking place at Highway CA-13 between San Pedro Sula (SPS) and the SPS international airport by community members demanding the construction/repair of dikes to prevent flooding. Traffic is blocked in those areas.  U.S. citizens in Honduras are reminded to maintain awareness of their surroundings as the situation may change quickly.  Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  U.S. citizens should avoid demonstrations and crowds as well as take proper precautions against the spread of COVID-19.
